Frequently Asked Questions
Can a PCM (Mathematics) student do B.Pharm?
Yes. Both PCB (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) and PCM (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics) students are eligible for B.Pharm and D.Pharm in Karnataka. The Biology gap is covered in the first-year curriculum. Many successful pharmacists studied PCM in 12th.
Can I do B.Pharm after a 3-year B.Sc?
Not directly into Year 1 โ B.Pharm admission is based on 10+2 marks. However, B.Sc graduates may consider Pharm.D (6-year doctorate) or pursue M.Pharm after completing a B.Pharm degree.
Is there an upper age limit for B.Pharm or D.Pharm?
No upper age limit. The only age requirement is that you must have completed 17 years by 31 December of the admission year (2026).
Are gap years acceptable?
Yes. Students with academic gaps are accepted. You may be asked about the gap during counselling, but it does not automatically disqualify your application.
Is NEET required for B.Pharm at VSCP?
No. NEET and KCET are not required for admission at Vidya Siri College of Pharmacy. Admission is purely merit-based on your 12th marks (PCB or PCM stream).
Does the college accept management quota seats?
Per Karnataka regulations, a portion of seats are filled via management quota under PCI and AICTE guidelines. Specifics including counselling for these seats are discussed individually with eligible applicants. Contact the admissions office for details.
What is the difference between B.Pharm and D.Pharm eligibility?
The main difference is the minimum marks requirement. B.Pharm requires 45% (General) or 40% (SC/ST). D.Pharm requires only 40% for all categories. Both accept PCB and PCM students. D.Pharm is a 2-year diploma; B.Pharm is a 4-year degree.
Can I switch from D.Pharm to B.Pharm later?
Yes. After completing D.Pharm with 50% or above, you can join B.Pharm Year 2 directly through the Lateral Entry pathway. This saves one year compared to starting B.Pharm from scratch.
