Q. Can I pursue B.Pharma after Class 12 (PCM)

A. Yes, if you have passed your Class 12 with the English language and the science subjects Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics you are an eligible candidate for pursuing B.Pharma. According to the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI), you should pass the 10+2 examination conducted by central or state government authorities.

Q. Is Maths compulsory in Class 12 for doing B.Pharma.

A. If you are wishing to pursue B.Pharma after completing your 10+2 in the science stream, Math is not compulsory. According to the Pharmacy Council of India PCI, you need to pass the exam in English, Physics and Chemistry. You may opt either for Math or biology in Class 12. With these qualifications, you may seek admission to good pharmacy colleges if you wish to study in Bangalore.

Q. Are you eligible to do a D.Pharm after completing B.Com?

A. The eligibility criteria for D.Pharm admission is as follows:
• Intermediate exam in science
• Passed the first year of Bachelor of science course of three years
• Passed 10+2 in science
• Passed pre-degree examination
• Passed any equivalent examination approved by the Pharmacy Council of India
If you have done B.Com after fulfilling any of the above criteria you may pursue D.Pharm. However, if you have taken commerce subjects for 10+2 you cannot pursue D.Pharm after B.Com.

Q. What qualification do we need to do B.Pharm?

A.According to the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI),the minimum qualification necessary for doing B.Pharm is as follows:
• You should pass the 10+2 examination conducted by the State/Central government with English as one of the subjects and Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Mathematics individually.
• Any other qualification approved by the PCI provided you complete 17 years of age on or before 31st December of the admission year.
• You may take direct admission to second year (Third semester) B.Pharm after completing the D.Pharm course from an institute approved by the PCI.

Pharmacy Admission Process

Q. Can a commerce student apply for a pharmacy course?

A. The minimum eligibility for a Pharmacy course requires you to take a 10+2 examination in English, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics/Biology for B.Pharm and D.Pharm. Additionally, for B Pharm you need to complete 17 years of age on or before 31st December of the admission year in addition to fulfilling the subjects’ criteria.
If you have passed 10+2 with commerce subjects, you have no chances of getting into a Pharmacy college.

Q. Can I do a D Pharmacy with PCM?

A diploma in pharmacy or D.Pharm is a two-year course. You can do the course if you have passed the 10+2 exam in science conducted by the central/state government. Having passed in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (PCM) you can pursue D.Pharm in any college approved by the Pharmacy Council of India. In Bangalore, there are good colleges that offer a D.Pharm course. You can pursue the diploma after passing 10+2 with PCM.

Q. Can I apply for B.Pharm after completing 10+2 from open university?

A. According to the regulations of the Pharmacy Council of India(PCI), if you have completed 10+2 from non-formal and non-classroom based schools such as the National Institute of open schooling or open schools of the state, you are not eligible for B.Pharm admission.

Q. Can I go to B.Pharm after doing 10th?

A. No, after completing your 10th you are not eligible to do B.Pharm. According to the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI), the minimum education qualification for B Pharm is the completion of 10+2 science with English, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics/ Biology individually.

Q. Is NEET compulsory for getting admission to B.Pharm?

A.No, NEET is not the qualifying entrance exam for B.Pharm. The Pharmacy Council of India has made regulations for the admissions to B.Pharm. Accordingly, you have to complete 10+2 In the science stream, passing with the subjects English, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics/ Biology individually. In some states, in addition to this, you may have to give the state common entrance test. For.e.g in Karnataka state, you will have to clear KCET for getting admission to B.Pharm.

Q. Is Maths compulsory for B.Pharm and D.Pharm?

A. No, Maths is an optional subject if you want to do B.Pharm or D.Pharm. However, as per regulations of the Pharmacy Council of India, you should clear the 10+2 exam with English and science subjects Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics or Biology. Even if you have not taken Maths you can go for B.Pharm or D.Pharm.

Q. How can I take admission to a top college for B.Pharm?

Colleges offering courses in B.Pharm are approved by the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI). In India, every state has many Pharmacy colleges offering the four-year degree course of B.Pharm. In Bangalore,many good colleges offer B. Pharm and most are affiliated with Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences.

According to PCI, the general eligibility criteria is a 10+2 exam with English and science subjects Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics or Biology. You may also have to clear the entrance exam for the particular state, you seek admission in. In Karnataka, check the site for KCET (Karnataka Common Entrance Test) for B.Pharmacy. If you clear the CET of the particular state in which you want admission with good marks, you can get admission to top colleges.

Q. Can an art graduate student do a Pharmacy course?

You should clear the 10+2exam in the science stream with English and science subjects Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics or Biology individually. Hence you cannot go for B.Pharmacy after doing arts graduation. However, if you had taken the science stream in the 10+2 exam, you may check your age eligibility criteria for seeking B.Pharm admission after Arts graduation.
